Davido turns 20 years old today, November 21, 2012.
In a year and half the young stunner has
taken the Nigerian entertainment industry by storm, releasing chart
topping singles, big budget videos, a debut album and staging a huge
album release concert, basically defying ‘the rules’ an upcoming artiste
must live by.
At 20, it’s something worth talking about.
Self proclaiming himself as ‘Omo Baba Olowo‘ (son of a very rich man), he dragged the identity of his billion father Deji Adeleke
into the picture and didn’t help matters by often posting photos of
his opulence on social media. He’s either taking photos of expensive
gold chains or a new car, or better still raw cash. He has often
received heavy criticism for his said ‘childish behaviours’.
Davido however shocked fans and critics when he donated N1m to a cancer patient Idiagbonya Osarere Debbie after he got to know through social media campaign.
Just like most celebrities, Davido has
failed to stir away from controversies. From semi-nude pictures leaking
online to allegations of him assaulting a taxi driver, Davido has seen
his fair share of problems.
And he has gone on strong with the help of his HKN Gang. With the help of his elder brother Adewale ‘Chairman HKN‘ Adeleke and sister Sharon Adeleke who continue to guide him; as well as right hand man-manager Asa Asika, Davido now ranks as an A-lister; a beloved hitmaker who’s found favour with fans and promoters.
His cousins B Red and Sinarambo
who are also artistes signed under his HKN label have half of the glory
to themselves, touring and performing along with Davido around the
world.
And just to live up to his status,
Davido has announced he will be doling out N500,000 (Five hundred
thousand Naira) this weekend as he plans to celebrate his birthday in
grand style.
